Set on the northern shore of Lake Waramaug, Hopkins Vineyard, a family-owned Connecticut Century Farm, proudly maintains a tradition of making fine wines of award-winning quality. In 1787, Elijah Hopkins, returning from the Revolutionary War, chose this rich and fertile site on Lake Waramaug to settle his family and start the Hopkins Farm. Our farm has witnessed many diversified forms of agriculture over the years including the raising of sheep, race horses, grain crops, tobacco, and in the more recent past dairy farming. In 1979, the first vines were planted and our 19th century barn was converted into a state-of-the-art winery. – Description from AlexJelena

  • Hopkins Vineyard White Blend Westwind 2008

    Snoothrank:

100% Cayuga grapes, steel fermented. A lovely nose of grapefruit and lemon, semi-sweet flavor and mouthfeel of nectarines, apple, melon with vibrant, crisp finish. Great as an alternative to your favorite Reisling! Wonderful in the warm summer months and even in the fall with all the great squash recipes floating around! Read More

  • Hopkins Vineyard Ice Wine Estate Bottled 2006

    Snoothrank:

The bouquet is gorgeous, rich, fruity, decadent The color is a lovely golden yellow, and, to borrow a phrase from the tasting notes, the wine is fantastically sweet. This wine just melts in your mouth. It is a beautiful blend of fruit with just a touch of honey. Absolutely gorgeous. Read More

  • Hopkins Vineyard Night Owl NV

    Snoothrank:

A Late Harvest dessert wine, the Night Owl is a smooth, full-bodied wine that dances across the tongue. The nose is mellow with hints of apricot, and the wine itself has subtle notes of apricot and hazelnut. It would pair nicely with a fruit and cheese platter, light desserts, or even serve as the finish to a meal all by itself. Read More

  • Hopkins Vineyard Peach Wine Blanc NV

    Snoothrank:

This is a fruit wine made from locally grown peaches. It has a very light bouquet with a subtle peach aroma that tantalizes rather than overwhelms. The flavor is delicate and it dances in the mouth. It has a smooth and mellow finish. Read More

  • Hopkins Vineyard Red Blend Sachem's Picnic NV

    Snoothrank:

This is a semi-sweet red wine, with a strong, fruity bouquet. The wine itself is a light-bodied wine, and not one of my favorites. Our hosts recommended that this be served chilled, and I would agree. I didnt find a lot of depth to this wine, and I think chilling it brings out the lightness and fruitiness. I think its well named - this is a ... Read More
