I'm a seasoned wine taster from California. I compare my tasting to Grapes in Napa CA. The white wines were refreshing. I especially liked the apple flavor in the wine as it was unique compared to our Chardonay's in CA. What really suprised me and rather pleasantly was the taste of the red wines at the Hillside Winery. I really really like the complex taste of their red wines. I hope this helps. It's worth a stop and jaunt to get there. The ambiance was wonderful. – Description from ksmyzx

  • Sometimes overlooked for its larger and better-known neighbors, the Nahe is leveraging its geological diversity to build a reputation in the global wine world as a region for distinctive, world-class wines.    Situated about 45 minutes southwest of Frankfurt, the Nahe is named for the river that winds through the region.  Spanning 125 kilometers... • Italy is well known for many things and one of them is an inordinate number of different wine grapes. The variety (400-500) is practically dizzying. That sort of diversity is also present in Italian sparkling wine where a number of traditions persist. One of the best known is Prosecco. These wines are made with the Glera grape and fermented in s... Read More

  • The majority of wines on the market these days are meant to be consumed within one to five years. This is a natural law. Producing wines that can sit in the cellar for decades is time-consuming and expensive. There is a time and place for wines that age and adventurous palates are required. Most all age-worthy wines will have high acid, tannin, ... Read More

  • I've lived in this part of Northwest ohio for 40+ years and I don't feel the corn fed beer drinkers comment does justice to this area of the country. For one thing we only eat corn durning the summer when it is fresh sweet corn. The rest of the year we feed the corn to cows, pigs, and chickens. When they get nice and plump we butcher them, cook ...

  • The wine is like Kool Aid. The area is known for its dense German heritage of corn fed beer drinkers. The wine is catered to their unrefined palates. The atmosphere is nice before 8pm, until the locals begin to feel the affects of consuming wine as if it was a case of Bud. I would recommend a visit to see the rustic area and nice wait staff, but...

  • I am from the area and this is a delightful winery! They have wine tasting in front of a fireplace. I'm not sure if they produce for sale of a Pear Wine they have made, but I've had it and it is the best I've had! Definately worth the stop of ever in Northwest Ohio!
