Villa Carlotti Amarone Della Valpolicella 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Basin and producer: Amarone is a production form used in the Valpolicella region, and only wines from here, who bear the name Amarone. Amarone is Italian and means "great bitterness". The wine produced by the grapes are harvested mature top, and left to dry on straw mats on the ceiling. This dries the grapes in, and the amount of water decreases relative to the sugar and flavor components are concentrated in the must. Valpolicella is located east of Lake Garda, is a hilly landscape with good sun exposure for the vines. The grapes are local, and most are Corvina with minor amounts of Rondinella and Molinara. Earth consists of dry limestone, which rests on a hard subsoil of limestone. A well-drained and very suitable habitat for the Valpolicella district's classic grape varieties. Villa Carlotti is a manufacturer of modern Amarone with good fruit character and bite in the taste.

Tasting Notes:

In the glass: Deep ruby color with almost black core. The fragrance is dominated by mocha, dark chocolate and black cherry. The taste is dense and rich with great fruit concentration, here are notes of blackcurrant, sweet plums and raisins. The wine ends with a good spicy flavor with good balance.
