The 2007 Amarone is deep garnet red in color showing intense dry grapes and plums with hints of spices (cloves and cinnamon) cherry jam and iris. Toasted almonds complete the finish. - Winery

The 2007 Amarone della Valpolicella comes across as quite delicate and forward within the context of Amarone. Dark red fruit, tobacco and sweet herbs emerge from the glass, followed by expressive floral notes that add lift. The 2007 is uncomplicated but tasty, and should drink well for at least a few years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015. The 2007 Amarone is deep garnet red in color showing intense dry grapes and plums with hints of spices (cloves and cinnamon) cherry jam and iris. Good deep red-ruby. Ripe cassis and dark plum jelly aromas are joined by smoked meat and leather. Sweet and dense in the middle but very tannic, with a faintly dry edge to the fruit and herbal flavors on the moderately persistent, mouthpuckering finish. I’m not sure these tannins will ever smooth out, as there isn’t enough balancing mid-palate fruit.
