Santa Ana Malbec Rosé 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Bodegas Santa Ana is a leading Estate from the Cuyo region of Mendoza province, high in the Andes on the Western side of Argentina. Founded in 1891 by Don Luis Tirasso, Santa Ana now boasts some of the finest vineyard sites in this area. Bodegas Santa Ana has been producing wines for the international market for many years, honing and perfecting their particular philosophy of winemaking in order to satisfy the high demands of our 'internationally educated' consumers. Ripe, soft fruit is combined with an unmistakably Argentinean attitude, creating a guaranteed crowd pleasing range of exceptionally good value for money wines. Sourced exclusively from Santa Ana's estate vineyards in the Cuyo sub-region of Mendoza, the grapes are picked when they have a perfect balance between ripe sugars and natural acidity, helped by the high altitude of the vineyards and the cooling influence of the Andes Mountains. After de-stemming and crushing, the juice is left in contact with the skins for a short time only and seperated after the desired amount of colour has been released. It is then fermented to dryness in stainless steel tanks. Filtering and cold stabilisation take place before bottling. The resulting delightful wine is bright cherry in colour with hints of orange around the edges. The nose is fresh, aromatic and enticing. On the palate the wine is fruit driven and crisp with a dry finish. A very refreshing glass by itself, this rosé also has enough character to pair with entrees, full flavoured fish or salad dishes. Perfect to serve at a banquet or barbecue, where its versatility will suit all tastes.
