Pride Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

Super-concentrated nose of blackberry, kirsch, moist tobacco, subtle incense and sandalwood really light up the senses. The 2013 equally delivers on the palate, with density, persistence, structure and superb concentration of flavor. This is a prodigious wine, one of the best cabernet sauvignons I can recall us making. The stuffing on this will allow it to age beyond any of our lifespans. Nonetheless, the considerable tannins are velvety and the wine pleasurably rolls around the mouth even at this young age (bottled in July 2015). Classic Pride Mountain flavors of dark ripe berries, a range of baking spice nuances, cedar and mocha.

Typical Californian big straight cab. Black cherry flavor and dark matured red color.

This was one of three 2006 Napa cabs we opened for my 30th birthday. The other bottles were Sequoia Grove Rutherford Bench Reserve and Larkmead Solari Reserve. All of the bottles decanted for three hours before serving. The Pride Mountain was very dark purple in color and oozing with ripe and jammy black berry notes. On the mid palate there is also plenty of oak, vanilla, dried fruit and tobacco. This is an extremely rich wine and was by far the most fruit forward jammy bottle of the night. It was not as structured as the other two bottles but was well received as 2 of our five tasters preferred this bottle over the other two.

Very nice cab!!! Opened up nicely after decanting for 3 hours. Interesting notes of violet and dark fruits. Very long finish with just a touch of astringency on the finish because it is young.

I love the notes of blackberry in this wine and I think it has a well balanced oak quality to it. It pairs perfectly with meats, especially beef. However, it is also great on its own! This cab is really one of my favorites!

Our 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is quite simply delicious, exhibiting charming fruit notes of cassis, plum and blueberry compote, along with chocolate, black tea, rose oil and coffee. The palate is rich, lush and opulent – virtually bursting with flavor – and its age-worthy tannins are present without being overwhelming. This is a gorgeous wine that is already drinking well but has the stuffing to go the long haul. All the finished red wines in 2015 are among the very best we have ever made at Pride Mountain Vineyards. Our 2015 cabernet sauvignon was harvested during the last two weeks of September and the first three weeks of October, relatively early for us here at the top of Spring Mountain. The wines were fermented on the skins for 12 – 30 days and were then gently pressed to French oak barrels, 50% new. After aging in barrels for 19 months and racking the wines six times, the final blend was assembled using wines from all sixteen of our cabernet sauvignon blocks as well as 6% merlot and 7% petit verdot. The wine was bottled on July 11th, 2017. Appellation: 54% Napa 46% Sonoma Blend: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon 6% Merlot 7% Petit Verdot Alcohol: 14.7% ** Only 9 in Stock **

Notes: Our 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is delicious and compelling, possessing nuanced ripe fruit, complex spice, an unctuous, round mid-palate and a finish that is balanced between varietal fruit notes and tannic intensity. Cabernet sauvignon blocks planted to clones 15, 4, 6, 337, and our own Rock Arch vineyard selection were harvested between September 23rd and October 22nd and fermented in individual stainless steel vats. After gentle pressing, the wines were aged in French oak (50% new) for 19 months before being blended with 8% merlot from our Wind Whistle block and 4% petit verdot from One Acre Hill, one of the highest elevation spots on the property. The final blend expresses ripe fruit notes ranging from blackberry to plum and cassis, as well as nuances of bay laurel, chocolate, black tea, brown sugar, graphite and crushed rose petal. The texture in the mouth is definitely that of a mountain wine, with size and concentration to balance the richness and opulence of its round mid-palate. - Winery Blend: 88% Cabernet Sauvignon 8% Merlot 4% Petit Verdot Alcohol: 14.6%
