Pride Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2005
Winemaker's Notes:
Showcasing the diversity within our mountaintop Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, this powerful, extracted wine delivers layers of fruit, cocoa and spice. Super-ripe aromas of black cherry and blueberry are accented by subtle tar and soy notes. The first sip coats the palate with black fruit, coffee and the weighty tannins that provide the firm structure of a true mountain Cab.

(Barrel tasting) One can only hope this is as delicious after it's bottled. Dark, rich and plush, with gobs of enticing flavors, serving up a mix of chocolate-covered currant, mocha, white chocolate, wild berry and pretty toasty oak. Remarkably elegant and complex, with a long finish.

Dark-colored, with rich mocha, exotic spice, blackberry, cedar, black cherry and currant aromas, it slowly builds intensity and depth and reveals a tight core of deeply concentrated flavors supported by firm, rich tannins. Best from 2005 through 2012.

Opaque dark ruby, black in the middle. Perfumed but reticent aromas of cassis and minerals. Very dense and very sweet in the mouth, with superb depth of black cherry and cassis flavor and an impression of solidity due in part to powerful structure. Very long on the finish, with substantial tannins covered by fruit.

A polished, seductive style, offering rich black cherry and blackberry fruit that's ripe and well-defined, with an overlay of smoky, toasty oak, folding together nicely on the finish. For all its richness and complexity, this is a graceful wine that's already fun to drink. Drink now through 2011.

(Barrel tasting) Dark, rich and plush, with an unusual display of fruit opulence; polished blackberry, huckleberry and raspberry fruit is lush, deeply concentrated and long on the finish. Toasty oak adds a fascinating dimension.

Although lighter than previous efforts, it exhibits a dark ruby color, medium body, black currant and damp earth characteristics, and a lean finish.
