Member Review by hhotdog:

wonderful from the opening to the finish...plenty of fruit, good balance and tiny hint of leather. would love another bottle and will keep my eye open whenever i go to the "off the beaten path" wine shop(the shop i found this in is now out do to my find!) .$63? it's hard to find a really good brunello at this price what a lucky find.

Weingut: AntinoriAnbauregion: Italien, ToskanaRebsorte: SangioveseInhalt: 0,75 LiterAlkoholgehalt: 13,5 Vol.%Lagerfähigkeit: 10 - 15 Jahre ab JahrgangFassreife: in Barriques gereift (24 Monate) Empfohlene Serviertemperatur: 12-16°C    Auszeichnungen91 Punkte (Jg.2003) FALSTAFF July 200891 Punkte- Wine Advocate April 30 2008 (Jg.2003)     Suche nach Rebsorten > Rote Rebsorten > Sangiovese

Has dried cherry and berry aromas, with hints of flowers, following through to a full body, with silky tannins and a delicate finish. A little reserved, but there's lots of fresh fruit and racy acidity. Best after 2010. 14,160 cases made. -JS Antinori's 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Pian delle Vigne is a sweet, perfumed offering. Medium in body, the wine offers up scents of tobacco, wild cherries, spices and flowers in an elegant, restrained style for this bottling. The silky, finessed tannins frame the fruit nicely and carry through all the way to the long finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2019. Pian delle Vigne's 2004 Brunello is worlds apart from the scorching hot 2003 vintage-so different, in fact, the wine seems utterly reborn. You can smell those hallmark Sangiovese aromas: cherry, blue flower and wet earth, and taste the variety's elegant acidity. - M.L.

Wine Advocate ReviewRated 91Antinori's 2003 Brunello di Montalcino Pian delle Vigne is a sleek, racy wine loaded with sweet dark fruit intermingled with delicate notes of tobacco and sweet toasted oak that flow from its soft-textured frame. The wine shows notable balance in this vintage, with well-integrated tannins and plenty of harmony. Ideally it might offer greater persistence and more varietal character, but this is still a very strong effort. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015.

Not yet tasted but always in great demand. Piero Antinori makes one the very best Brunellos in a rich, full-bodied, opulent style.
