Parducci Merlot 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Our 2006 Merlot boasts a complex aroma of sweet black cherries and plums mingled with leafy mint tea and intriguing hints of miso and tamari. On the palate, the wine's medium-bodied flavors key on cherries, with a pronounced tea-leaf spiciness adding savor and zest. This tasty, fruitful Merlot is a fine match with herb-roasted chicken with plum sauce, grilled beef on a bed of arugula with shaved parmesan or a bowl of steaming turkey chili.Parducci is locally owned and operated in California's Mendocino County. This smells a bit leathery and earthy with some damp coffee grounds balancing the black cherry fruit that has a touch of a menthol top note. A bit dense in the mouth but at the same time this is smooth with nice intensity to the flavors. A distinct coffee tone in the mouth with nice chewy red plum fruits and hints of sweet baking spices lead to a somewhat short, yet refreshing finish with a hint of raspberry on toast for the finale. 87pts

Nice upfront notes of charcoal, grilled meat, red plum and cinnamon with a touch of minty herbs and some raw wood Very smooth entry with nice acids contributing freshness to the milk chocolate toned dark cherry and black raspberry fruit. There’s a touch of cigar box and spice on the back end that leads to a red cherry toned finish. Nicely done. It’s light and fresh and very approachable. A good value. 87pts

Lots of spice, cinnamon, and almonds in the glass, kind of a christmas-like wine. Strong body with rich tannins, and a little too much acidity.

some spice and licorice on the nose, black cherry, raspberry, and blackberry fruit profile, darker notes on the palate, tannins prominent, a little meaty, lingering finish...

Earthy chewy nose with menthol and cherries. Lean and complex in the mouth with a tight core of well balanced sweet black cherries. A bit of spice on the finish, which fades pretty quickly.

Spicy licorice and tar nose with almonds and bing cherry top notes. Meaty for a merlot, there's earth, and good minerality. The finish is typical merlot with warm flavors of christmas cake, cinammon and tobacco. Very nice
