Murrieta's Well Zarzuela Los Tesoros Livermore Valley 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

32% Souzao, 22% Petite Sirah, 21% Tempranillo, 13%Barbera, 11% Graciano, 1%Touriga Earthy on the nose with an early bit of cedar followed by dark blue fruit, vanilla, earthy fruit that is a bit plummy, wood shavings, and a hint of juniper. rather full on entry with an early hint of juniper in the mouth, followed by lovely blue fruit with violet framing notes. Rather meaty, and a bit beefy with hints of herb, earth, and old leather, in the mouth. The oak is more obvious on the nose than in the mouth, which is slightly chewy and rather complex; combining pure, earthy fruit with nuanced complexity. Finishing with good length and transparency, this shows off a spicy side on the finish along with a touch of heat. 90pts
