Responsible for overseeing Gruppo Mezzacorona, the Mezzacorona Societa Cooperativa Agricola was founded in 1904 as one of the first growers associations in Italy.  Currently occupying just under 6,500 acres at the foot of the Italian Dolomites, Gruppo Mezzacorona which produces all Mezzacorona products, combines both the traditional pergola system of growing with the more modern espalier system for enological operations.  While staying true to the natural balance of the grapes, Mezzacorona is equipped with the most modern enological equipment allowing them to produce upwards of 8 million gallons of wine annually. Wine production focuses on quality white production with special attention paid to their Pinot Grigios and Chardonnays, both grapes coming from the Valle dell’ Adige section of the vineyards.  Red production is centered on the Teroldego, followed closely by their Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, harvesting the grapes from the Piana Rotaliana and Lake Garda regions, respectively. Renowned for their consistent quality, Mezzacorona wines benefit from the unique landscape of the Trentino and Alto Adige regions of Italy.  For years Mezzacorona’s renowned winemakers have planted varietals in locations best suited for that varietal, being sure to takeg advantage of all the micro-climates the region has to offer. A delightful Pinot Grigio to be enjoyed for its aromatic crisp green apple, mineral and honeysuckle notes. With its elegant fresh savor, our Pinot Grigio is the perfect complement to appetizers, soups, pasta, white meats and fish. -The Winery

On the first tasting of this wine I was unimpressed. Too citrusy for a pinot grigio and I don't think it's been oaked very well. Not much of a finish at all & you hardly know you drank anything. I let it sit in the fridge over night; chilling and having breathed, it definitely has a little more complexity, a bit more of that slate-like quality that in my opinion is the backbone of a good dry white wine. Have to say, I will most likely steer clear of this one next time around.

Easy to drink and a classic example of a pinot grigio. Very well made and ready to drink. Nice straw yellow color that is very clear. Aroma of pears and pineapple very common to pinots. Medium bodied with a crisp taste and balanced acidity. Hints of pear and tropical fruit with a little bit of green apple. Very easy wine to drink that would not offend anyone.

Refereshing and surprisingly rich, this Pinot Grigio from Wine Enthusiast Magazine's European Winery of the Year in 2010, is a super value. Balanced with bright acidity because the grapes come from the cool climate vineyards in Northern Italy's Dolomite mountains. This perpetual Best Buy is a wine to enjoy any time!

Traditional white wine vinification at controlled temperatures of around 18-20°C; modern taste, straw-yellow in color, pleasant bouquet, delicate, fruity, dry in flavor, elegant, and well balanced.

Mezzacorona lies at the foot of the majestic Italian Dolomites. Its vineyards with pergola trellising, characteristic of the region, run from Lake Garda to the foothills of the towering Dolomites.

The quality-price ratio here is simply unbeatable. Mezzacorona presents a fuller, rounder, more satisfying Pinot Grigio with ripe aromas of peach, pear and honey. There's a smooth, creamy feel in the mouth. - M.L. Wine Enthusiast. A Pinot Gris wine from Trentino Alto Adige in Italy. 2009 Mezzacorona Pinot Grigio 750ml

Wine Enthusiast The aromas are subdued and lack in intensity but they do embrace floral and fruity notes of citrus peach and green melon. The wine is simple and compact in the mouth with bright lemon zest on the close. Score: 85. Monica Larner July 01 2008.
