Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (20,000 cases produced) may be the finest regular cuvee produced here in nearly two decades.

Quite dark color. Fairly volatile nose, but also with strong oak and currant. Very rich on introduction to the tongue and palate—lots of black (currant and blackberry) fruit with a strong suggestion of chocolate. Definitely a big, mouth-filling wine. “Sweetness” may be from the fruit or it may be from the alcohol. Very tame tannin suggests to me that this wine may have plateaued. Looking forward to having this one with grilled beef, tonight.
