Hogue Cellars White Riesling Late Harvest Columbia Valley 2016

Member Review by brooke23l:

First attempt at trying a riesling, more complex and interesting in flavor than many Moscato's. Slightly bitter and fairly acidic, but sweet enough to keep drinking.

I like this because it is not "over the top" as far as sweetness. Delicious sipping wine after dinner. Has nice structure.

My wife and I had the 2010 and 2011 version of this wine and we didn't like it at all. It was highly recommended and we are Riesling fans, but it didn't work for us.

fruity, with a bitter overtone like orange peel. Fabulous with ribs.

Late Harvest NOT. Not thick, not velvety, not sweet, in fact, not any of the late harvest qualities. It is bitter like orange peel. Not even a good Riesling. If you're looking for a dessert wine with good mouthfeel, keep looking. Sorry, cracker please.

Crisp clean taste slightly acidic and mildly sweet citrus. Not as sweet as expected for a late harvest Riesling

I love this wine, it's a tad bit sweeter then the original riesling in my opinion, but it is what I expected to get from a late harvest wine. This wine is sweet and finishes clean. I recommend this.

"Eastern Washington's low annual rainfall and cool nights during the growing season make it the perfect area for producing consistently great late harvest wines. Hogue has developed a style with Late Harvest White Riesling that includes a moderate level of sweetness, richness, viscosity and crisp balancing acidity with just a hint of complexity from the noble rot, Botrytis cinerea. The Hogue Late Harvest White Riesling has aromas and flavors of dried apricot, tangerine, orange peel, vanilla, raisin, and powdered sugar. The wine has good sugar to acid balance. Pair it with fruit sorbets, poached pears or hot apple pie." -Winery

This Late Harvest White Riesling has aromas and flavors of dried apricot, tangerine, and powdered sugar with a hint of cocoa and mint on the finish. The wine has excellent sugar to acid balance. Excellent as an aperitif or paired with fruit sorbets, poached pears or warm apple crisp.

Frankly sweet, with rich texture and lots of peach, apricot, honey and floral aromas and flavors, which linger on the finish, rich but not sticky. Drink now through 2004.

Soft and frankly sweet, emphasizing apricot and baked apple flavors, finishing with hints of spice. Drink now through 2011.

Sweet, with a nice caramel note adding interest to the pear and citrus flavors, finishing with finesse. Drink now.

Sweet, floral and a bit simple, but a nice drink, with apple and honey flavors. Drink now.
