Henriot Champagne Blend Champagne 1998

Winemaker's Notes:

Native to Lorraine, the family relocated to Champagne around 1640. In Reims, the Henriots engaged in textile and wine brokerage. Little by little, the family acquired vineyards. In 1791 was the acquisition of the Hôtel des Douanes and the Fermes Royales (built in 1760 by the architect Legendre in honour of King Louis XV) by Nicolas Henriot. In 1794 Nicolas Henriot married Apolline Godinot. Together, they developed a fascination for the culture of the vine and production of wines of quality. Henriot only makes vintage Champagne in the finest of vintages. The 1996 is considered to have produced graceful yet powerful wines that have and will age magnificently. The high proportion of Chardonnay from the Grands Crus makes this cuvee complex and refined with delicate aromas. It is the perfect expression of a great vintage wedded to the typical elegance of the Henriot House style.
