Concannon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Livermore Valley 2010

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Rather oaky on the nose with a deep base of earth and black spice. In the mouth this shows off juicy acids and soft tannins that help to support fruit that is perhaps a touch simple but very precise and clear all mineral tinged and slightly orange toned black currant and wild blackberry fruit. This has a fabulous texture, fresh and old school with fine soil and subtle oak accents on the moderately long, persistently fruity finish. I love this, it’s a departure from wines at this price point to be sure but it’s so paradoxical. Firm yet transparent, fruity yet savory and complex and so detailed in the mouth. It’s shows a hint of heat but I’ll forgive it. I would love to revisit this in 3 to 5 years. 91pts

They could speak, the rocks of Concannon Vineyard would tell a tale rich in history. Concannon’s treasured contributions to winemaking have positioned it as landmark winery with an enduring commitment to creating outstanding, award-winning wines. We have a history of proud firsts. We were one of the first wineries to pioneer Bordeaux and Rhone-styled wines in California. We are the home of America's first successful Irish vintner, the world's first Petite Sirah and world-class wines from our fruitful, rocky soil. As a founding family of California wines, Concannon created the hardworking Cabernet Sauvignon Clones 7 and 8, which helped plant much of Napa in the 1970s. Pioneering founder, James Concannon, began making wine in the Livermore Valley in 1883. Now, his passion for family and fine wine is evident in every aspect of Concannon Vineyard and we’re fortunate to share it with you today. Read less

Intense deep flavor of black ripe sweet cherries, with vanilla subtlties and smooth oak on the taste buds. It's a very well balanced cab with a velvet finish and one of smoky afterbreath. This is an amazing value and would be consumed with the red meat of your choice, anytime, anyplace

Through a special arrangement with the winery we’re offering this 91 point Cab exclusively to our Wine Express customers. Only 200 cases of this Reserve Cab were produced, entirely from the best lots in their estate vineyards. These Concannon clone grapes produce intense flavors and full body. This wine was aged 18 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. Wine Enthusiast Magazine rated it 91 points saying “With serious structure and a firm grip, this 100% Cabernet from Livermore’s vaulty Concannon is a very impressive effort from a strong vintage that’s easy drinking and well integrated, tasting great right now with plenty of rich tannins, pleasing blueberry and cassis with a shot of chocolate on the finish for good measure.” Limited, so grab it while it's On Sale!!

For nearly 125 years, Concannon winery has chosen grapes harvested in diverse California coastal regions, especially the Central Coast. They carefully select the most ideal vineyards for growing each variety. They then craft the expressive fruit into wines that you will remember long after you finish the last sip. Their Selected Vineyards wines are carefully crafted from Central Coast grapes chosen for their flavor, richness and great value. The 2006 Concannon Cabernet Sauvignon, Selected Vineyards, Central Coast is a well-balanced and approachable wine. It exhibits a rich nose of violets and cassis, with hints of chocolate and vanilla oak. The flavorful palate shows mulberry fruit, anise, and more oak flavor overtones. The finish is full and jammy, with hints of sweet tobacco and freshly roasted espresso beans.
