This affordable Sauternes is jam packed with spicy botrytis flavors, especially in ripe vintages such as this one. Grab a slab of foie gras and get ready to enjoy the opulence of this lush, silky bottle.

[Barrel tasting] A well-balanced, concentrated wine, full of botrytis flavors: richness, poised honey and lemon. This is going to be an impressive wine for a second growth andmdash; in about 10 years andmdash; but already shows signs of greatness.

Apple pie and lemon tart aromas follow through to a full body, with medium sweetness and a lively, bright finish of citrusy acidity and spiciness. Very young. Powerful. Best after 2012.

Pale yellow-gold color. Peach and apricot aromas carry through onto the dense palate, where they are joined by suave oak and a finishing element of candied citrus peel. Ripe acidity gives the wine a juicy quality in the middle, as well as a firm edge on the finish that calls for some patience.
