Cambria Pinot Noir 2013

Member Review by Chelsey E:

Though not usually a big fan of pinot noir, I really enjoyed this one. Cinnamon seems to pop out first followed by a nice fruitiness and a bit of earthiness. It struck me as well balanced and quite smooth in texture. The flavors and medium body paired well with a mushroom risotto.

While hunting for the 2006, I had this instead. Yum! Smooth, fruity, very enjoyable. A slight earthiness. Everyone who I've introduced this wine to immediately asks me where I got it, what it is and gives it a big thumbs up. This is a very good drinking wine so I prefer not to pair it with food, just music.

wow! pinot isn't my favorite, but this one deserves its good reviews. vanilla and cinnamon, light but not too acidic, mellow in the way of the best pinots. and a bargain at 14-16 bucks. yay.

"The color is dark purple with little of the brick hues that we often see in Pinot. The nose is generous

I'll keep my tasting notes on Cambria's Pinot Noirs short, since the only wine produced in acceptable commercial quantities is the Bench Break. The rest are experimental, small lots, all of them solidly made wines emphasizing the red currants, strawberry, and sweet and sour cherry notes as well as the minerality of Pinot Noir. I didn't see as much difference in the clonal choices as one might expect, although the alcohol percentages ranged widely.

This wine develops aromas of ripe cherry, strawberry, cranberry, and bluebery fruit on the palate. Red fruit, vanilla, and cinnamon are balanced with subtle earthy flavors. The mid-palate has a silkiness that continues into a long finish.

The nose is brimming with luscious cherry and strawberry flavors. This medium-bodied wine has notes of cinnamon spice, rich earth, and a round midpalate.

Cambria's Pinot Noir offerings are well-made, with the tell-tale tomato/herbaceousness that seems to be a characteristic of Santa Barbara. The 1996 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard is similar in style to the 1995, with less herbaceousness, as well as less flavor intensity. Soft and round, it will provide competent drinking over the next several years.

Supple, showing tea, cherry and wild berry flavors with toasty oak nuances that linger on the lightly tannic finish. Drink now through 2003.
