Broadbent Madeira Colheita 1996

Member Review by worldsmith:

Much too syrupy for my palate - the sugar and viscosity distracts from the nuanced flavors.

Wine Tasting NotesLighter and brighter in color and flavor than longer-aged wines. A predinner sipper as well as an excellent introduction to Madeira. According to the importer, this is the first Colheita to be introduced in America.

Smooth with a nice, full texture and nutty finish. "Colheita," meaning "vintage" Ports and Madeiras are required to spend 7 and 5 years respectively in oak before release. This example is pefect as a dessert with Manchego and quince paste.
