Bearboat is a wine based out of the Russian River Valley in Sonoma, California. The name plays on the theme of the Russian River - the bears, the symbol of Russia, are in a rowboat on the river. The principal winemaker is Raphaël Brisbois, an Alsatian who originally worked for several fine Champagne houses before coming to the states, where he worked for sparkling producers including Iron Horse. He began making still wines at Bearboat for Remy Cointreau in the mid 1990s. The wines are sourced from vineyards throughout the Russian River Valley and Sonoma, using cool-climate varietals best suited to the region’s growing conditions such as Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc.  Read less

Clean flavors of butterscotch and papaya place this in a ripe and tropical style. It's full enough for coconut-crusted tilapia.

Breathe in the autumn, the sweet scent of a bushel of golden delicious apples, then taste the sweet flavors of apple sauce and the crisp bitterness of the skin. It all follows in a clean, straight line of flavor, a pleasing fruitiness for roast pork.

Holding to a fine, sharp line of flavor - of lime, earthy scallion, delicate clarified butter - this wine manages not to be overcome by oak. There's a delicacy to the overall impression and a surety to the texture, a balance of richness and finesse that suggests good development ahead.

Made in a Chablis style, this Chardonnay is bone dry and crisp in acidity. The pineapple and peach flavors are integrated with stony minerals. It's not a complex wine, but is super-clean and zesty, a nice complement to shellfish, mushroom risotto or a perfectly roasted chicken.
