Azienda Agricola Mario Giribaldi Barolo 2006

External Review by WineExpress.com:

Wine Spectator scored it 91 points saying "Both ripe and intense, this red is bursting with cherry, strawberry, herb and leather aromas and flavors. Forward, almost approachable now, but will be better in a year or two. Best from 2013 through 2022." A savory, aged quality marks this Barolo, recalling candied fruit, prune, leather and old spice. It is very firm and tannic with a velvety finish. Pair it with stewed beef or spicy marinated pork.

Giribaldi was founded at the beginning of the 20th century and has now been farming for three generations. Today following the example set by tradition, and for the love of something as genuine and alive as wine the work continues. The location of the winery in the heart of the Langhe is clearly exceptional. Grapes are sourced from Ravera in the community of Novello from vineyards at of 1200 feet above sea level. The soil is marl, calcareous to clayey, with a good permeability. The vineyards have a complete Southern exposure. Vinified in traditional style and aged in large Slavonian oak casks, the Wine Spectator scored this Barolo 91 points saying "Both ripe and intense, this red is bursting with cherry, strawberry, herb and leather aromas and flavors. Forward, almost approachable now, but will be better in a year or two. Best from 2013 through 2022."
