Molinara on Snooth

  • Masi Grandarella Appassimento 2004

    Snoothrank:

This wine is produced using the "appasimento" method normally used to produce ... ... Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, it is produced using Refosco (a local Italian varietal) and Carmenère, thus the name "Supervenitian" used to characterize this "Rosso Delle Venezie" IGT.With a dominance of tobacco and a bit of Cherry, this is a well made wi... • [After a few quiz related posts in the Talk section, here and here, I thought we could try upping the ante. I'm pleased to welcome Rodolphe Boulanger to the blog for a follow-up to his 'Wine Trivia' post in which most people fared rather badly (and I, even worse). Rodolphe, who claims this quiz is slightly easier, is President of The Wine Messen... Read More

  • Roccolo Grassi Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2004

    Snoothrank:

Probably one of the best Valpolicellas on the market. Wonderful and plushly intense set of aromatics - black and bing cherry, toasty oak and plum paste all neatly accented with tobacco and a keen hint of wintergreen. What a mouth! Gobs of plum, blueberries, milk chocolate and cedar create the core. A roasted element of coffee and cocoa rounds it... Read More

  • Tommasi 375-24 Amarone Owc 2001

    Snoothrank:

Maintaining the requisite quality from a family that has been in the business ... ... Veronese, Rondinella and Molinara - is a rendition of this unequaled wine that inveigles the senses. There is a great refinement of warmth and ripeness on the nose that lingers in the palate. The mouth proffers an array of seamlessly mingled flavors of dried ... Read More

  • Giuseppe Quintarelli Veneto Rosso del Bepi 1996

    Snoothrank:

Quintarelli 1999 Rosso del Bepi(Veneto-Corvina, Rondinella, with Cabernet, Nebbiolo, Croatina, Molinara & Negrara) Powerful, concentrated nose of dense fruit. Velvety and lush on the palate, vibrant fruit flavors with a lingering finish. Super-opulent and fantastically paired with decadently rich chocolates. Nice. Read More

  • Amarone Riserva Quintarelli 1995

    Snoothrank:

Quintarelli 1995 Amarone Classico Riserva (not Classico Superiore) -- Aromas of plum, tea, dried fruit. Sweet, yet dry and medium-bodied. Elegant and complex, really evolving in glass. Amazing contrast to Dal Forno Amarone which articulates with power. Quintarellis expression is rustic grace, layers of flavors, completely complex and utterly pro... Read More
