Wine Recommendations

Posted by JMacey, Oct 20, 2010.

I enjoy wines that are smooth, not too fruity and not heavy on the oak. Exsamples: Opus One 2003-05 / Tua Rita Redigaffi 2004-06 / Marcassin Pinot Noir Marcassin 2004

But it doesn't have to cost too much to be good. If there's any that are smooth, not to fruity and not heavy on the oak. Please let me know.

All the Best,

Nice set of parameters, and it'll be interesting to see what recommendations appear in this thread. Don't have time, now, but will revisit later. Wanted to say 'welcome to Snooth', though.

What were the characteristics of those three wines that you particularly liked?

J, I have not had an Opus, but I would have to disagree with you since I have heard that it is an overoaked monste, especially when drunk young.  If you try some wines from the 90's, most of the oak has probably settled down along with some of the fruit and secondary or tertiary flavors will start to emerge.  For instance I am going to be uncorking some Brunello's from 1997 soon to see where this much heralded vintage stands..
