first review

Posted by mousking1, Jan 10, 2010.

so i've done some simple reviews, but i just did my first review that i really worked on. to me just a list of attributes doesn't do wine justice (even the bad ones). to me it would be like calling the pacific northwest pretty. but as other threads have discussed, there is the posibility of being too verbose. so i would love to hear some feed back from people.

Good review, mousking. You'll note that several of my reviews attempt to paint a fuller picture of the wine (and its setting), too.

So no leather or tobacco? ;-)

no. i haven't quenched my leather and tobacco craving yet, but i did buy a few, but they won't be mature for another year or two. i might keep them a tad longer though, because barely mature is, well, barely mature.

I do like dmcker's reviews.

I would like to have time to settle down
and share an entire dinner experience fully
without being verbose or clumsy.

I have done a few in private and public
conversations with those friends with whom
I have become close.

At first I did not know that SNOOTH was accepting
paragraphs on food and wine, so I stuck to "TWITTER-LIKE" BITS
on a few wines here and there !

At my stage, you would have expected me to know better!!!

Now, we all know how to do it dmcker style !
Perhaps others would treat us to even more substantial fare.

So, until then...CHEERS TO YOU ALL!
Still drinking some warm mulled wine!
Does everyone know how to prepare mulled wine?

@mousking: I really like your review, nice job how you describe step by step the flavors that come to your mind. One question though, the review is very positive, you state "...on a budget this is a great wine"; so why do you only give it 3 "snooth glasses"?

Reply by mousking1, Jan 12, 2010.

i gave it only 3 glasses because while it is a great wine on a budget, it is just a good wine when money isn't an object. i might have given it another half a glass, but definitely not four.

Like you, I also have some short reviews and some long ones. But overall, I think that putting a description of where you were is a key factor. Let the reader enjoy it with you.
