Finer Wine and Things Resolution: '09.

Posted by ChipDWood, Dec 19, 2008.

After being inspired by fellow Snoother Eric Guido's recount of what had to be an AMAZING night of the finer things (http://www.snooth.com/talk/#http://...)- and in response to what has to be one of the CRAPPIEST years I've got going on the books (with the massive exception of having the fortune of marrying the woman of my DREAMS): I have decided to make a Pesto-tinted resolution this year.

I have a FANTASTIC little Italian market (Piccolo's) down the street from me that, for SHAME, I have not patronized NEARLY enough- and I am GOING to spend the year learning how to make a proper Risotto. I'm going to cozy up to Basil, and wrap my arms around the tomato as if it were a dear & missed old friend.

I have a brand new Cuisinart (see: wedding gift) that will be put to good use making Pestos of all sorts from the freshest of ingredients. I have love for all things ROASTED GARLIC, a BRAND NEW Mario Batali enameled Dutch Oven (also see: wedding gift)- even a healthy helping of Italia in my blood (see: FATHER'S wedding gift).

And after the brutal, frickin' STINKER of an ANO this has been (with the exception of the previously mentioned marrying of dream-girl) - it all leaves me with no further reason, motive, or EXCUSE to put this off ANY LONGER.

I hereby decree (or "decry", or "decant", or however one spells it) that 2009, for me, will be:

"THE YEAR OF LIVING PIEDMONT".

THANK YOU ERIC- for the inspiration.

Anyone who wishes, can come along.

Living Piedmont sounds like an awesome way to do 2009, I'm all aboard!

In my finest Mr Bill Oh Noooo!

Man i remember when I had Piedmont all to myself.
None bought the wine, or cared about them. I'd go to 30 wine dinners a year and no one ever brought Nebbiolo except me. Mr. Barolo, they laughed.

Chip when you get time shoot me an email. We can start things off right with Barolo dinner. I know of a few other Snoothites who may have some interest in joining us!

I'll take a few photos of my cellar next week when I go out to do sour work building new racks and organizing the phenomenal mess that it's become. I will be sure to include a few photos of the Barolo section, just to help you get past the New Year's hump!

I joined the Piedmont group- so I got that goin' for me. Which is nice.

Now all I need to do is figure out a way to get my hands on some of this stuff.
