Hey DM, let me know if you ever get to this place:

A bit busy right now and it's a bit out of the way, but I'll try to swing by before too long. Think he could use some website work...

Thanks for the pointer, DV.

DM, I know it's not like you live around the corner!  I just meant, let me know IF you ever happen to get there!  :)

In relative Tokyo terms I am right around the corner. Probably less than a 15min cab ride. Still it's off the beaten track, not easy to get to except by cab, and bottom-line-problem my schedule is crazy right now. Was up all day in the disaster area around Sendai yesterday planning parks for permanent housing projects to replace the temporary, today is talking with medical teams and tonight is attending a fairly high-level gathering of guys who want to become better, stronger, more intelligent guys, in their own minds at least (one of the speakers would likely be Hemingway if he were still alive; instead it's network TV announcers, polar explorers/round-the-world sailors and the like), or help males in their care (as educators or HR execs or...) do so, so I can hit up some likely targets for NPO donations. Tomorrow is working, separately, with the Foreign Correspondent's Club and American Club's women's group for the same purpose, as well as planning some longer term PR for the NPO. The next day more or less the same, and the weekend installing a new playground in an orphanage on Tokyo's outskirts. This stuff isn't rocket science but it does take time, lots of time, and energy.

Not meaning to bore you with logistical details of my life in Tokyo at moment. Suppose I'm just feeling sorry for myself since I have very little opportunity these days to hunt down, or even enjoy, fine wine.

I hope you're commensurately remunerated for your efforts.  Obviously you get satisfaction from such work.  It sounds like you don't sleep!   I'm going to go all Dr. Phil on you (haha...I only know OF him...I don't watch TV) and say that your last paragraph is disheartening.  You deserve a day to take that cab ride to find new wine and then go home and enjoy it!  Save a little of that energy for yourself.

Never heard of a life like yours Dave...

D., if you get to this wine store, see to what extent the offerings are other than the usual ice wine.  Alternatively, I should visit you, follow you about, and write a short novel (I am actually somewhat serious, so beware).

The book sounds like a great idea, but don't go to Japan to try Canadian wine.  Victoria is MUCH more convenient!  :)
