In offering that unique combination of beaches, water sports and vineyards, and alive with every attraction for the tourist market, the Mornington Peninsula is Victoria's answer to the Margaret River. Each has an extraordinary number of restaurants, many of them winery affiliated, and an abundance of various types of accommodation. Although the wineries are relatively small, the region's many different sites and mesoclimate produce an exotic array of wines. Of all the other Australian wine regions, only Margaret River and the Bellarine Peninsula of Geelong can lay claim to such a profoundly maritime climate. In this part of the world, the wind is usually blowing from somewhere and generally either from the north and west across Port Phillip Bay or from the south and east across Bass Strait.
