Wine Ice Cream?

I recently got to witness a live demo in the kitchen at No. 9 Park, where they made sorbet out of traditional cocktail ingredients.  This has me thinking, is there such thing as wine ice cream?  If so, how can I get my hands on some?

I'm not a huge fan of dessert wines, but I think combining my favorite variety WITH dessert is the best of both worlds!

Any tips would be appreciated!

  • Luckily, you live in NYC, home of Wine Cellar Sorbets

I've seen this at several grocery stores, notably Best Yet Market in my neighborhood, but I think Whole Foods is a pretty sure bet, given that they were blogging about this awhile back.

I haven't had most of these, but I think wine sorbets are becoming trendy these days.   Not sure anybody makes wine w/ literal iced cream though, as it wouldn't play well with the acidity as much.  I can see an oaky chardonnay cream though

  • Wine Cellar Sorbet has a line of wine sorbets that are not very sweet and great for palate cleansing.  If you're looking for something that's more like a dessert, Ciao Bella has a very sweet blackberry cabernet sorbet.
