Fave Chardonnays from the Côte Chalonnaise & Mâconnais from Spring 2014

I spent three beautiful spring days in May in the cellars of the Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais rather than in the sunshine. So it was the Chardonnays (and Pinot Noirs, of course) that brightened my days.

6. Château de Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé les Brulées (2012)

This powerhouse of a Pouilly-Fuissé was aged entirely in new oak. It’s a bit flamboyant, packed with boisterous fruit and unrelenting on the finish. To counter its dynamic palate, it shows a touch of tannin on the finish. 92 pts
