What We've Been Reading

Itali Anna

After meeting so many wonderful writers at this year's European Wine Bloggers Conference in Brescia, Italy, I came home with a renewed hunger for discovery. I wanted to read everybody's blogs, and in due time I may. One of the first blogs I checked out was Itali Anna, the personal story of a young American moved to Italy.

I had the chance to chat with Anna during the EWBC, and have to say that I am a bit jealous of her! She is living her dream, in Piedmont no less, and has plans of building a house in La Morra. This is a plan I could get behind!

For me it will remain a fantasy, but through her blog, Anna brings a taste of her life to ours. Those early days in particular, when she moved to Italy without knowing anyone, or any Italian for that matter, and faced her daily struggles make for fascinating and amusing reading.
Anna has peppered her blog with blasts from the past, bits and pieces of her journals transcribed for our pleasure, and it is truly a pleasure to read. So check out Anna's great coverage of the EWBC11 and her visits to wineries and restaurants. And even better, share in her priceless tidbits like, "Dad calls me Neapolitan because no one can understand me."

Seriously life is not all about wine, check out Anna's blog and have a blast!

Oh, that sounds like fun! Can't believe I'm learning about this conference AFTER the fact, and from an American to boot (when I'm a European wine blogger, and was in Milan just a few weeks ago!) But enough about that - I love the tip, and really like Anna's blog. Do let me know your thoughts if you ever have the chance to read mine, http://twosisterswinetripping.com - we are two Swedish sisters writing, where I am a bona fide wine nerd and sommelier, and my sister will drink anything that is cheap and has a fun label. We dash it out on the blog...

Gregory! I'm sure the conference was amazing. Hope to check it out next year. I'm keeping a harvest blog for Peju Province Winery, and think you will enjoy giving it a peek. It's a little different than most of the other blogs I've seen. I write candidly, thoughtfully and playfully about the real harvest experience as it's happening at our family-run winery in Napa Valley which has been producing killer wines for almost 30 years. Check it out! http://www.pejuwinery.blogspot.com. Let me know what you think. We love reading you over here! - britt.
